Our Beginnings

In 1970 I acquired a lovely fawn and white bitch from Lou and Seme Auslander.  She was simply to be a companion for our family but I quickly became intrigued by the idea of showing her because she was such a beautiful mover. Although she suffered a severe injury to one of her front legs, with multiple fractures and tissue damage, (the emergency vet initially felt amputation would be necessary),  after a long period of recuperation, she became a conformation champion and was the foundation bitch upon whom we built our breeding program.

Our First Whippet 1971
Ch. Alpine Safflower

(Ch. Laguna Leisure x Ch. Unlimted Gallway)

This was the beautiful bitch who catapulted us into the rewarding world of Whippets.

Our First Group Winner 1976

Ch. Pathens Sebastian of Robi

(Ch. Pathen's Saja Suka x Ch. Pathen's Sasha of Carob)

Sebastian was a generous gift from my dear friend and mentor Pat Speight. He was our children's favorite playmate.

Saffie's "Niece"
Ch. Alpine Peaches 'N Cream

(Ch. Alpine Ski Bum x Reed Ramble Julie)

Another beauty we acquired from Lou and Seme Auslander's Alpine line. Sadly, she was never bred.

Lidemara's Something Else  "Patty"

Patty with her breeder, Judy Filler.  Patty was a wonderful acquisition to our Whippet family.  She produced a beautiful litter for us, among whom was our lovely Cottonwood Sweet William.
